Wedding Photography at Chorley Registry Office, Devonshire House

Dawn and Mark were married at Chorley Registry Office, Devonshire House in Chorley. Their wedding was a beautiful, very small and intimate ceremony involving the Bride, Groom and two witnesses. When I first met Dawn we did so in a pub on the opposite side of town to where she lives. Dawn explained to me that they wanted to keep things quiet and between themselves. There was some nerves in case anybody spotted us. However, she didn’t need to worry though as we were not seen and I am able to keep a secret, especially one as exciting as this!

On the day of the wedding Dawn and Mark arrived together looking radiant, excited and just a tiny bit nervous. We had just a short wait while the Bride and Groom had their pre-ceremony chats with the registrar and everything was put into place. The ceremony began with Dawn and Mike entering the room, hand in hand, closely followed by their parents, the witnesses. The ceremony was very special, intimate and individual to the couple. Following the ceremony, the couple signed the register before being presented with their marriage certificate. Their wedding ended with confetti and a few formal photos before they ventured off for a private meal.

Whether you are having, like Dawn and Mark, a small wedding or if you are having a big wedding with all your friends and family. I treat each and every wedding with same attention to detail, working my hardest to produce wedding photos that will last you a life time and will be your forever memories for you to look back on for years to come.

I wish Dawn and Mark a happy future together. I’d also like to thank them for having me as their wedding photographer and trusting me to keep their secret ahead of their big day.

Here are a few photos from their special day….

Georgian House Hotel Wedding Photography – Nikki & Richard

Wedding Photography at The Georgian House Hotel Bolton

Your wedding doesn’t have to be a photo shoot.

I’m always surprised how often people assume that to get a great photograph you need to stop what you are doing, change your position and freeze for the camera, but as a documentary photographer all that means is that you are taken out of the moment and all that amazing life and spontaneity is lost. I never direct documentary moments. EVER. I never move people or ask them to redo something they have just done. I never remove them from the real moment in any way because I passionately believe that the best photographs on your wedding day happen when you live your wedding. I want you to experience it spontaneously, freely, without one eye on the camera or on where to stand and what is going to happen next. It is my job to bottle your memories for you without you even really knowing it is happening. I am your eyes on your wedding day and I will play back your memories for you.

For these reasons, and many more, it was such an honour to be asked to photograph Nikki and Richard’s Wedding day at the Georgian House Hotel near Bolton. I was able to capture all the big moments, the small moments, the seemingly insignificant moments, the side-splitting hilarious moments, the emotional moments, ALL OF THEM, and I know how much they all truly matter to the couple. I think it’s fair to say that this was a pretty extraordinary wedding, one I will remember for a long time. Some things stick with me from this wedding, Nikki’s dress was superb, Richard’s military suit, there is something so fairy tale-esque when a groom wears a uniform, and the amazing entertainment.  It was one of those weddings where everyone came together to have such an amazing time and one big party. Coupled with their high energy it was a day full of fun, spontaneous outbursts, laughter and a bit messy in places. But that is what a wedding should be, crazy, stupid, fun and messy love. Boring gets left at the door and you just enjoy the company of those you love… and CAKE, we can’t forget the cake!!!

Here are some images from their lovely day…

Please remember that all images below are copyright of Sarah Yeoman Photography. You are welcome to share these on social media etc, in fact I encourage it but when you do, please ensure that the logo is not cropped out – thank you !

The Laughter – Why I love this Wedding Photograph.

The Laughter – Why I love this wedding picture.

I thought I’d start a sequence of posts that take a look back at some of my favourite photos from weddings both recent and old. I’m not going to name it, for example, throw back Thursday or other similar catchy titles as I’m rubbish at putting blogs out on a regular basis. So, for now, I’m simply going to talk about an image that I like, explain why I like it and discuss, perhaps, a little about the technicalities behind the shot.  I hope you enjoy my ramblings…..

So, this shot was taken in March this year at Andrea & Scott’s wedding at Ribby Hall, Wrea Green.  This picture is not about Scott, the groom, although he is in the picture. But, rather it’s of one of the groom’s men and whilst editing it struck me for a number of reasons.

You know what I like most about the picture?  The laughter.  There is an element of photography that is all technical…… composition, depth of field etc., but to be totally honest, I will rarely allow any of those “rules” affect me taking a picture that I think will capture a moment of that day – forever.

During the reception there was a magician amazing the guests with his card trick. When I saw him interacting with the groom and his friend, and having seen the affect the tricks had on other guests, I knew there was going to be a great reaction.  I like the fact that the grooms man is framed by Scott and the magician, but that’s partly coincidental. I converted the image to black and white as I wanted all the focus to be on the grooms man and his reaction and didn’t want anything else to distract from it.  To me the image is all about the smile and the happiness…… and that’s what wedding photography is all about right?

Shot on a Canon 5D MkIII, it’s one of my favourite photos from this year, so far.

Technical Details:

Camera:  Canon 5D MkIII
ISO: 200
Exposure:  1/250 second at f/6.3
Flash:  Did not fire

The Hallmark Hotel Wedding Photography – Sharon & Stephen

Wedding Photography at The Hallmark Hotel Leyland

Sharon & Stephen contacted me some 14 months before their wedding to see if I was free to shoot their wedding at The Hallmark Hotel in Leyland. Of course, I jumped at the chance, not just because I have photographed many weddings at this venue. But also because I had previously photographed one of their family members wedding back in 2015, and knowing what a fantastic wedding and family they were, I was keen to meet up with everyone again.

I arrived to find the guests arriving and socialising in the bar area, excited and looking forward to the celebrations.

After taking a few photographs of the interactions I headed over to the incredible ceremony room to capture guests taking their seats and to get ready for the entrance of the bride.

The ceremony was both beautiful and emotional. Once the ceremony was over, we all spilt into the bar area and then outside to make the most of the spring sunshine.

It was a really lovely spring wedding and after a few group shots and formal photos I left knowing that the celebrations would go on till late into the night.

Sharon & Stephen’s Hallmark Hotel Wedding was a real pleasure to photograph.
